• Syllabus :-
1) Magnetism:-
- Origin of magnetism , classification of magnetism on the basis of permanently
(qualitative). Applications of magnetic devices : transformer cores , magnetic storage ,Magneto -optical recording.
2)Superconductivity:-
-Introduction to superconductivity , properties of superconductors , zero electricalresistance, critical magnetic field, persistent current, Meissner effect, type 1 and type to superconductor. low and high temperature superconductors (introduction and qualitative), AC/DC Josephson effect, SQUID josephson effect, SQUID : basis construction and principle of working , application of SQUID applications of
superconductors.

• Some important points about this unit :-
1) This chapter deals with the origin of magnetism, In this classification of
magnetism is based on permeability.
2) It covers many magnetic objects such as transformer core magnetic storage and
magnet optical recording.
3) On the other side, information is given about superconductivity and in this the
characteristics of super conductivity are given.
4) It contains information about zero electrical resistance, critical magnetic field,
persistent current, etc. and its applications.
5) Type one and type two superconductors are given and their structure and
diagrams are given.
